How to buy a solar water heater.

Buying a solar hot water system is a big decision for many Australians, and it pays to do your research.

Here are a few things to think about when you are shopping around. Remember, you are making a decision that will either save you a lot... or not much for the next decade or so.

With energy prices continuing to rapidly rise, getting it right now is incredibly important.

Government Rebates are available now, but there's no guarantee that they'll still be around in another few years.

Make the most of your dollar right now, and choose a high quality solar hot water system that will perform... well into the future.

Going Solar? Don't know where to start?

1

High Efficiency

Higher efficiency means faster payback and more savings over the life of the system. Evacuated Tube Collectors from Endless Solar are independently proven to be super efficient.

2

Easy Installation

Choose a design that is simple and easy to install. Make sure you are not restricted to putting the collector only on a north facing roof.

If you are thinking of choosing older style solar panels with a tank on the roof, you should check whether you need to use a crane... or whether you must reinforce your roof due to the installation complexity and extra weight.

Endless Solar systems do not have these limitations. They are lightweight and modular, making them straightforward to install.

3

Quality, Lifetime & Warranty

A long lasting system will continue to provide savings for many years after the 'payback period'... that’s a smart investment.

Endless Solar uses high quality components backed by genuine, long warranties.

4

Ongoing Costs and Maintenance

Many ‘flat panel’ type systems require regular maintenance and chemical replacement – beware of any ongoing costs and 'standard-quality' materials. Buying a cheap solar product now could mean a very expensive mistake on your roof in the future.

Solar collectors from Endless Solar are maintenance free and self cleaning. No more climbing on the roof to wipe away the dust, grime, leaves, and mould.

5

RECs & Rebates

Make sure the system that you choose is eligible for Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Rebates. There are some really good financial incentives for installing a solar water heater... and you don't want to miss out.

The Australian Federal Government, Office of Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) has increased the number of RECs that apply to every Endless Solar System. Endless Solar systems achieve more RECs than comparably sized products.

6

Aesthetics

  • Do you want a clunky tank weighing down your roof? If your answer is 'no', choose a split system design.
  • Do you want the risk and hassle of climbing up on your roof to clean away the build-up moss and grime every 6 months? Then choose an Evacuated Tube system from Endless Solar - they are naturally self-cleaning.
  • Do you want the flexibility to put the solar collector on just about any roof face? Then choose a system from Endless Solar - they can be installed on almost any roof.

Standards Approved

Make sure that the solar hot water system you purchase has been approved by Standards Australia.

The applicable Standard for solar hot water systems is AS/NZS 2712:2007 - Solar and heat pump water heaters - Design and construction.

Solar hot water systems supplied by Endless Solar are Australian Standards approved.
