RECs - Renewable Energy Certificates
RECs are a Federal Government initiative under the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 and is used to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Government’s Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) scheme.
The REC program is aimed at increasing the use of solar hot water systems by providing a cash back rebate value that consumers receive after purchasing an elgibile Solar Hot Water System. The amount and value of REC’s received depends on where you live and on the type of system purchased. There are 4 Australian zones, which will determine the number of RECs for each installation.

Federal Government $1000 Solar Hot Water Rebate

Solar Schools Rebate
The Solar Schools Grant provides up to $50,000 to install solar hot water systems, rainwater tanks, 2 kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and a range of energy efficiency measures.
